Chris, a fully assimilated second generation Mexican American, feels no connection to his undocumented father until he is forced to drive him back to Mexico for his grandfather’s funeral. Once there he discovers a connection with his father and the country he has never known. But when his father is lost in the desert crossing back over into the United States, Chris goes in search of him and discovers much more about himself.

Jose, a gifted undocumented college student, must forsake his dreams when his mother is arrested and deported after an immigration raid on her workplace. He returns home and struggles to keep his family together as fear and paranoia spread through the neighborhood.
